Quick answer
How does forging work in The Forge?
In The Forge, you mine ores, choose whether to create a weapon or armor, select your ore mix, and start the forge. The game then runs three interactive crafting stages. Better execution raises craft quality; the ores and quantities you chose influence the resulting equipment and its stats.
The forge interface shows outcome chances for the materials currently selected. Use that live display as your final check before committing ores.
Step by step
How to forge a weapon or armor piece
Gather ores
Mine enough material for the equipment category you are targeting. Keep rare trait ores separate until you know what role you want them to play.
Choose Weapon or Armor
Open the forge and select the correct equipment type before committing materials. The available outcome categories change with this choice.
Select your ore mix
Add ores to the available material slots and review the chances shown by the live interface. Ore type, quantity, multiplier, and trait composition all matter.
Complete all three mini-games
Work through the heating, pouring, and hammering stages without rushing. Performance across the sequence determines the final craft quality.
Before you commit
Three decisions that matter before forging
Equipment category
Decide whether the immediate goal is damage, defense, mobility, or a specific weapon style before choosing the ore count.
Base multiplier
A mix is not automatically stronger because it contains one rare ore. Compare the contribution of every material in the combination.
Trait composition
Check whether a trait applies to weapons, armor, or both, and whether the selected ore occupies enough of the total mix to matter.
Avoid wasted materials
Common forging mistakes
- Choosing an ore because it is rare without checking its equipment scope or trait.
- Adding weak filler solely to increase ore count and unintentionally lowering the overall material quality.
- Confusing the item-category chance with craft quality; they describe different parts of the result.
- Trusting an old calculator after the live forge interface or locking system has changed.
